Windows 1.11

Windows 1.11 is a Stranger Things App After All

Last week, Microsoft introduced an “all new Windows 1.0” experience on its social media and while some though it was some kind of throwback to the original Windows 1.0 released back in November 1985, or that the classic OS will go open source, Stranger Things instantly came to mind for us. Now, Microsoft has revealed the Windows 1.11 Stranger Things app and it looks pretty great, but it isn’t the classic Windows 1.0 experience, as it mixes nostalgia with the Upside Down to create one awesome Stranger Things tie-in.

The Windows 1.11 app is available on the Microsoft Store right now but unfortunately, not for South Africans at the time of writing. Hopefully, we will see a South African release soon, as I can’t wait to try it out for myself.

The Windows 1.11 app isn’t a classic Windows 1.0 experience, but instead works more like a game than anything else. There are Stranger Things Season 3 Easter Eggs, 8-bit mini-games to enjoy and yes, numerous glitches thanks to the Upside Down. You can unlock unique content from the show and even create mini-movies with 3D models, special effects and theme music. Check out a description of Windows 1.11 below.

[perfectpullquote align=”full” bordertop=”false” cite=”” link=”” color=”#33ffe9″ class=”” size=”22″]Experience 1985 nostalgia with a special edition Windows 10 PC app inspired by Windows 1.0 – but one that’s been taken over by the Upside Down from Stranger Things. Explore the mysteries and secrets plaguing Hawkins, unlock unique show content and easter eggs, and play retro games and puzzles – all building off Stranger Things 3. Join Eleven, Steve, Dustin and gang as they seek to save Hawkins and the world. Embrace the 80s and grab your hairspray, because it’s basically the raddest show companion experience ever. But fair warning: beware the Mind Flayer.[/perfectpullquote]

That sounds pretty awesome if you ask me and I can just feel that nostalgia flowing through me right now. Hopefully, it will release for South African soon. We will let you know when it does.
