Windows 11 Updates Now Install Faster and Use Less Resources

Microsoft has confirmed that the latest Windows 11 Update comes with improvements to help Windows Updates. The latest update 24H2 reduces the install time for updates alongside improving restart times and even the PC load needed to install the content.

This is great news for PC users who have dealt with tedious Windows 11 updates in the past. Usually, these updates take a long time to install, restart times are buggy and you can’t install these updates when running on a notebook battery due to the resource drain.

The new changes include new ways to update Windows 11. Microsoft says the system now includes parallel processing of components, scalable use of system RAM and optimized cache. As a result, Windows 11 updates now install 45% faster with 25% less CPU usage. Restart times are expected to be up to 40% faster on certain PCs.

Microsoft also confirmed that newer Windows 11 updates have been reduced in size. Some files have seen a 200MB reduction in size.

You should see and feel the difference in these changes as you download the latest update for Windows 11. Microsoft started rolling it out earlier this month and it should be available for your system now.
