Wolfenstein 3 MachineGames Bethesda

Wolfenstein 3 Reportedly Hinted at by MachineGames Dev

Bethesda’s Pete Hines confirmed back in 2018 that the publisher was already making Wolfenstein 3 in a rather unceremonious announcement. Years later, it seems like a MachineGames developer might’ve dropped a hint that an “unannounced project” it’s currently working on might be the third Wolfenstein game.

According to the LinkedIn profile of Melissa Petrucci, a UI/UX designer for MachinesGames, the developer worked on the announced Indiana Jones game and another unannounced project, which fans speculate could be Wolfenstein 3. Thanks to Hines’ previous comments, it’s not really surprising to make this connection since we’ve technically known for years now. Petrucci has since moved on to working at Embark Games, suggesting that her work might’ve been completed on both listed projects.

Since Wolfenstein: Youngblood launched in 2019, there has been enough time for MachineGames to work on another project on top of making an Indiana Jones game. Bethesda has since been quiet about any new developments in the Wolfenstein series, but that might change soon if Petrucci’s profile is accurate. Additionally, we have yet to hear anything about the Indiana Jones game since its teaser dropped back in 2021.

MachineGames were responsible for rejuvenating the legendary Wolfenstein franchise with the release of Wolfenstein: The New Order in 2014. It has since spawned a sequel, Wolfenstein: The New Colossus, which released in late 2018 to mostly positive reviews and some commercial success – it’s estimated to have sold over 2 million copies on all platforms, which was probably enough to push a mainline sequel forward.

In related news, it’s been reported that the Indiana Jones game will not be an Xbox exclusive as development presumably began before Microsoft’s acquisition, though we can’t say for certain. It’s also possible that Wolfenstein 3 may not be an Xbox exclusive either, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
