Announced back during The Game Awards 2023, World of Goo 2 is now set to launch on 23 May only on PC and Nintendo Switch. Originally, the game was announced without any specific platforms. However, during yesterday’s Nintendo Direct stream, Tomorrow Corporation confirmed that it won’t launch World of Goo 2 on PS4, PS5 or Xbox.
In terms of new content, World of Goo 2 will feature over 64 new levels and mechanics. There’s also an exclusive four-player local co-op mode available only on Nintendo Switch. So this mode won’t be available on PC.
The Tomorrow Corporation says World of Goo 2 is the “biggest game we’ve ever made”. The studio has teamed up with the original creators of the series 2DBoy to help develop the sequel. The original World of Goo was released over 15 years ago.
At the time, the original game was a standout due to its incredible physics gameplay and puzzle solving. However, the world has since moved on and these sort of games are commonly found now. So it will be interesting to see how the sequel manages to stand out amongst the thousands of indie games on the market.
You’ll be able to play World of Goo 2 on 23 May only on PC and Switch.
