Blizzard Entertainment has revealed that World of Warcraft: Dragonflight, the next major expansion in the long-running MMO, has an official release date of 28 November 2022. The new massive expansion will return players to Azeroth and introduce a new playable race, the new Evoker class, as well as customisable dragon mounts.
In Dragonflight, World of Warcraft players will be able to tame, ride and customise their own Dragon Isles Drakes and take flight with them using the Dragonriding flight mechanic. The Dracthyr, a new playable race, are only able to be the Evoker class, so players will have to choose between healer or caster DPS.

Blizzard Entertainment provides a description of Dragonflight:
“The dragonflights of Azeroth have returned, called upon to defend their ancestral home, the Dragon Isles. Surging with elemental magic and the life energies of Azeroth, the Isles are awakening once more, and it’s up to you to explore their primordial wonder and discover long-forgotten secrets.”
Dragonriding will be the big new mechanic introduced in this latest expansion. As Blizzard describes it, “Master the art of Dragonriding, a new form of aerial movement. Explore the land and obtain four new Dragon Isles Drakes—unique, customizable mounts that can be truly made your own. With millions of possible combinations to choose from, no two Drakes are the same.”
In addition to the announcement of a release date, Blizzard also confirmed that the first season of Dragonflight will start on 12 December and will introduce the Vault of the Incarnates raid, PvP and Mythic+ dungeon seasons.
