WWE 2K22 will be the first title in the series since WWE 2K20, which was released in a notoriously broken state. This caused developers to skip out on last year’s entry entirely, perhaps to address some of these technical issues and the difficulty of upkeeping an annual release during the pandemic. Former Double Helix Studio head Patrick Gilmore was brought in to take over the WWE 2K franchise in 2020, promising to deliver on the core gameplay experience and get the series up to scratch again with some of the better entries in the franchise.

WWE 2K22 releases on 11 March 2022 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
