Xbox Consoles and Games are Getting Price Hikes This Year

Microsoft has announced price increases for its Xbox consoles and certain games starting later this year. The price hikes will impact the current prices of both Xbox Series X and S hardware of around $100 and $80 increases in the US respectively while Microsoft also confirmed that games will be hitting the $80 mark as well.

In a statement sent to IGN, Microsoft confirmed the price hikes for the Xbox consoles, stating, “We understand that these changes are challenging, and they were made with careful consideration given market conditions and the rising cost of development. Looking ahead, we continue to focus on offering more ways to play more games across any screen and ensuring value for Xbox players.”

The Xbox Series S, which was initially priced as an entry-point next-gen console at $299, will now cost $379 in the US after the increase. The Xbox Series X, on the other hand, will increase in price from $499 to $599. Have a look at the full list of price increases below:

  • Xbox Wireless Controller – Special Edition – $79.99 (was $69.99)
  • Xbox Wireless Controller – Limited Edition – $89.99 (was $79.99)
  • Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 (Core) – $149.99 (no change)
  • Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 (Full) – $199.99 (was $179.99)
  • Xbox Stereo Headset – $64.99 (no change)
  • Xbox Wireless Headset – $119.99 (was $109.99)

Microsoft also revealed that certain games will be getting a price bump too up to $80, though they didn’t mention exactly which titles will get increased. Nintendo was the first to pull the trigger on $80 games following the Nintendo Switch 2 reveal last month. Analysts were correct in their predictions that higher game prices would become the norm in the industry.
