Microsoft is reportedly considering adding tiers to Xbox Game Pass due to the next Call of Duty possibly being included day one on the subscription service. As it stands, Game Pass subscriptions are pretty straight-forward, with a regular subscription on consoles and PC and Ultimate, which offers EA’s catalogue of games as well as the ability to have one sub across multiple platforms (along with other benefits).
According to Twitter/X user Extas1s who previously leaked the white digital Xbox, Microsoft is apparently considering adding tiers to Xbox Game Pass, largely spurred on by a decision to include this year’s new Call of Duty title as a day one launch on the subscription service.
Xbox’s competitor PlayStation launched its revamped PlayStation Plus service a couple years ago with a handful of tiers as well, each offering various benefits and access to libraries from Sony’s older generations. It’s understandable why Sony would want to lock its classics lineup behind the most expensive tier (Deluxe), though it remains to be seen how Microsoft will justify having an entire tier dedicated to just accessing Call of Duty, unless there will be more benefits to a pricier tier.

Xbox is set to host a showcase in June that will reportedly include a closer look at this year’s Call of Duty entry in a dedicated post-show event. Other reveals potentially planned for the showcase include Gears 6 and new trailers with release dates for Avowed, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and Indiana Jones and The Great Circle, according to The Verge’s Tom Warren.
We’ll keep you updated as the story develops. Microsoft has yet to announce or confirm these new tiers, though if it is true, we’ll likely hear about it at the Xbox showcase.
