The upcoming Xbox Games Showcase will apparently be 2 hours long and could feature 30 games, it’s been claimed. The report comes from reliable insider and journalist Jeff Grubb who teased that a handful of the games shown at the event will be titles “we’ve never heard of before,” teasing a few surprise announcements for Xbox fans.
Speaking on yesterday’s Kinda Funny Gamescast, Grubb teased the length and content of Sunday’s Xbox Games Showcase. “I’m not going to spoil anything, but the numbers I’m hearing is about two hours and about 30 games, and at least a handful of those are games that we’ve never heard of before,” he said.
While host Geoff Keighley has tempered expectations for Friday’s Summer Game Fest, it looks like a good chunk of the world premieres and surprise reveals will be at the Xbox Games Showcase instead. We already know that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will get a dedicated Direct deep dive directly after the show but the rest is purely speculation at this point.
Thanks to some older reports, we might have an idea about what to expect at the event. According to a May report from The Verge journalist Tom Warren, the Xbox Games Showcase will apparently feature Gears 6 as well as release dates for Avowed, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and Indiana Jones and The Great Circle.
“I understand Microsoft has a lot of games to show this year, more than the 2023 showcase,” said Warren. “We should expect to hear how the 2025 lineup is looking, with some launch dates for some anticipated Xbox games.”
Earlier this week, leaker extas1s claimed that Xbox will shadow drop a major first-party game at the show and tease a new portable device.
The Xbox Games Showcase will kick off on 9 June at 7PM CAT. Make sure you check out our full guide on all of June’s major gaming events right here.
