Microsoft is rolling out a new June update for Xbox Series X/S consoles which tweaks a number of system features while improving the home screen wallpaper. The home screen will work similarly to the PS5’s menu whereas each game tile will now bring up a wallpaper for that specific game.
Up to now, users on Xbox had to decide whether they wanted a cool custom wallpaper (be it static or dynamic) or the game art. The new update lets you choose to have both. So while you’re scrolling through your games, you’ll see the game art as you select the game tiles. However, when you’re not on a game tile, you’ll then see the custom wallpaper you select.
Users will have to opt-in to this setting in order to experience the dynamic background changes. You can do so by heading to General > Personalization > My Background. Then choose Show selected game art.
In the new update, Microsoft is also adding the option for the Xbox Series X/S to remember used Wi-Fi networks. Up to now, the console lets you connect to a Wi-Fi network but if you take your console with you and connect to a new network, it will forget the previous one. As a result, users had to search for the network again and type in the password to connect to it.
The latest Xbox update now saves these networks. The console can save up to 10 previously-used Wi-Fi networks. So you can disconnect and connect to them without having to remember the information each time.
While remembered Wi-Fi networks are quite common in tech, the Xbox Series X/S has been limited to just. a single connection up to now. It definitely makes life easier for those who move about.
You should be able to install the console update from today after booting up your hardware. The update might also automatically install depending on your power-saving settings.
