Microsoft has rolled out a much-needed feature to the Xbox Series X and S in the form of a “suspend my game” option in the queue menu on the console. In short, it allows users to suspend their active games manually so the console can boost the download speed for your ongoing game downloads and updates.
If you have never noticed before when users try and download games while playing online or accessing a game with a heavy online component, your download speed drops due to a portion of it being allocated to the game. This means your game download could take double the amount of time.

This new feature gives users control over the download speed by letting them suspend the game directly in the menu itself. This won’t close the game either. Instead, it makes use of the Xbox Series X and S Quick Resume feature so once the download is complete, users can simply jump back into the game.
Microsoft says the feature is now available to Xbox Insider Program users and will arrive in the future across other consoles. Xbox Engineer lead Eden Marie shared a tweet showing off the feature:
Hey Xbox Insiders! Did you notice these changes rolling out now? Suspend in the queue will let you download at full speed while making sure your game remains resumable (or quick resume-able on Series X|S). She also confirmed that Microsoft has tweaked the Xbox Gold and Game Pass banners in the update too.
