The Game Awards, one of the biggest awards shows in the entertainment industry, is set to take place on 7 December (or the early morning of 8 December for South Africans), featuring plenty of awards-giving and world premieres. Ahead of the big night, Microsoft and Xbox have begun teasing some “important announcements” for the show but thanks to a recent leak, we might have an idea what it will be.
Twitter/X user Klobrille recently posted an Xbox image urging players to “turn on for the best in gaming”, pointing to The Game Awards in early December. The image reveals that Xbox might have some “important announcements” to make at the event. However, Reddit users noticed that Beyond Good & Evil‘s 20th Anniversary Edition had recently been listed on the Xbox store, so some people believe that we’ll be seeing more classic games hit Game Pass in the near future.

More specifically, players believe that Microsoft will announce a library of Activision-published backwards compatible Xbox 360 titles at the show with many likely heading to Game Pass. Of course, it’s worth taking this with a pinch of salt until we get confirmation at The Game Awards. The important announcements could be anything, including a new disc-less Xbox Series X console that was leaked earlier this year.

The Game Awards usually hosts major reveals for upcoming games and projects alongside its awards-giving. This year, Baldur’s Gate 3 and Alan Wake 2 lead the charge with eight nominations each including Game of the Year and Best Narrative. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is close behind with seven nominations. Make sure you check out the full list of nominations for The Game Awards 2023.
In other news, Hideo Kojima might be bringing Death Stranding 2 to The Game Awards as well, at least according to a now-deleted tweet from the event that slyly hinted at its presence at the show.
