This weekend Microsoft is hosting its anticipated Xbox Showcase event where the company will update gamers on new releases coming to the gaming platform. According to a leak, Xbox fans are in for a surprise as Microsoft will not only shadow-drop a major first-party game but confirm and tease a portable gaming device.
The news comes from content creator eXtas1s who previously leaked accurate information on Hideo Kojima’s Overdose and Lords of The Fallen Game Pass launch. He claims that this weekend’s Xbox Showcase will play host to a number of noteworthy titles.
Fans can expect to see Flight Simulator, Avowed, the Diablo 4 expansion, Starfield DLC and Towerborne. However, Microsoft is also gearing up to showcase and release a major first-party game at the same time. The user claims to know what game this is but says he won’t share details to avoid spoiling the surprise.
In addition to this, we are expected to get the first teaser for a dedicated Xbox handheld gaming device during the show too. The device has been rumoured to be in development for some time now. Earlier this year, Xbox’s Phil Spencer commented on this dream experience for the Xbox Portable saying he could see a device that runs the Xbox OS and packs Game Pass.
By the sound of things, the Xbox Showcase will be one to watch out for. The event kicks off on 9 June at 7 PM CAT. You can find out more about the schedule for all of June’s events on our official guide post here.
As for the surprise Xbox game, I suspect we might see Gears 7 announced and released during the show. Rumours of the game’s existence have been swirling around online for some time now. According to sources, it looks unlike anything we have seen in the series.
