XDefiant Preview Ubisoft

XDefiant South African Servers Confirmed Ahead of Global Launch

XDefiant is finally launching on 21 May after some rather substantial delays. However, Ubisoft is confident that the shooter is ready to launch. It also recently went gold which means development on the project has wrapped up.

The free-to-play shooter sees players compete in arena-like matches while taking on the role of various Ubisoft-themed characters. These characters are all assigned to specific “factions” which represent different Ubisoft franchises. There’s a lot of potential for XDefiant to grow into something grand and expand across more Ubisoft franchises in the future.

South Africans can also celebrate the launch of XDefiant in the country. Ubisoft has confirmed that South Africa is getting its local servers for XDefiant meaning matches will run smoother and boast next-to-no ping.

Game producer Mark Rubin shared exactly where all the XDefiant servers are based and there’s one in Johannesburg. Servers are also littered around the globe including various servers in the EU, US, South America, Asia and Australia. Ubisoft hasn’t forgotten about anyone it seems.

XDefiant is set to launch across PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC on 21 May. The release has been a long time coming. The game was initially planned to launch before November 2023 but suffered some development setbacks when it failed the Xbox and PlayStation certification.

Ubisoft then promised to launch XDefiant before the end of March 2024. Of course, that also didn’t happen. So 21 May it is.

Pre-load for XDefiant is currently available across all platforms. It went live last night at 19:00. The game then unlocks for all players on 21 May at 19:00 CEST. Ubisoft has shared the content roadmap for the first season of XDefiant. This includes preseason content, battle pass information and more. Watch it below:
