LG webOS Magic Remote Games

You Can Now Play Motion Games on Your LG TV Using the Magic Remote

LG wants its TV owners to play games directly on the device using the Magic Remote. For those who don’t own an LG TV with a Magic Remote, this is essentially a motion controller that lets you navigate through the TV using a pointer. It is sort of like a Wii Controller and is likely the best TV remote on the market – bar its horrendous battery life/drain.

Due to the nature of the Magic Remote, LG is now rolling out games that use the motion cursor on the controller. Users can interact with these games as if they were playing a Wii game. The first games to support the feature are Cut the Rope and Thief Puzzle.

LG says that the Magic Remote gives users the ability to interact with these games and perform precise movements without the need for additional gaming controllers.

Keep in mind that up to now, LG has made games available on select TVs. However, these games were restricted to using button inputs on the controller. The LG webOS platform includes the largest TV app gaming lineup on the market, but the addition of the Magic Remote support will further enhance the library.

LG says the latest batch of Magic Remote games are only available on select TVs running certain versions of webOS. Cut the Rope is only available on TVs running webOS 22 and above. However, non-Magic Remote games are accessible on TVs with webOS 1.0 and up. Different games will require different TV models.

LG plans to expand these motion games in the months ahead thanks to its new partnerships with German HTML game development studio Famobi.
