Warner Bros. has announced that The Batman will launch on HBO Max on 18 April. The movie, which debuted in cinemas on 4 March, joins the rest of WarnerMedia’s films that all ran for only 45 days at cinemas before landing on the streaming platform.
WarnerMedia previously released its films at cinemas and on HBO Max at the same time in 2021. However, since the covid-19 pandemic has slowed down, the company moved to a 45-day early release in cinemas giving theatre-goers some time to watch the film before streaming it at home.
The Batman was a big success for Warner Bros. The film raked in over $600 million in the first two weeks at cinemas. The release on HBO Max will further help the film’s revenue as HBO Max will provide a cut for all streamed content from the film. If you don’t have HBO Max, you can then look forward to the film’s debut on the HBO channel on 23 April.
There’s no HBO Max in South Africa but we wanted to share the news for those of you who have active subscriptions through VPNs or other means.
