Gotham Knights Batman Family Trailer

You Won’t See The Entire Gotham Knights in One Playthrough

Get ready to replay the upcoming Gotham Knights a few times over. According to WB Games Montreal, the game is designed to be replayed a couple of times with multiple characters being selected throughout the campaign. We know already that Gotham Knights sees players take on the role of Robin, Batgirl, Red Hood and Nightwing. However, WB Games Montreal says that if players genuinely want to see and experience everything, they will likely have to play the game with each character across each mission to see it all.

In the latest issue of PLAY Magazine, WB Games Montreal’s game director Geoff Ellenor and cinematics director Wilson Mui touched on the game’s replayability and the importance of seeing the “whole” game.

According to Mui, the studio actually created four stories in Gotham Knights and not just one. Mui says that players “will not see all of it in a single playthrough. Just because there’s so much content that is unique to the hero’s perception of what’s going on and what’s happened”.

This especially goes for cinematics. Mui says that the team worked on making each mission feel very distinct for each hero.

“Structurally, we’re gonna have a very similar scene that overall falls in the flow for each character, but each character has their own version of that. A character’s version will differ because they move, speak, and act differently, and have their own history with different characters they meet.”

If you play as Batgirl, you’ll get Batgirl’s version. If you play as Robin you’re going to get Robin’s version of the same mission and scene. Mui says that while scenes are similar, they also play out differently in certain moments.

By the sound of things, you won’t miss anything important in the game if you don’t play it four times over. However, for those who want to see every mission and every cutscene as all four characters, you’ll probably need to replay it four times over.

Gotham Knights is set to launch next month on 28 October. The game will arrive on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. It acts as the sequel to the Arkham series and kicks off after the death of Batman. We have already covered Gotham Knights in quite a lot of detail in the past. Catch up on some of the articles below.
