Dark Souls 2 YouTuber Beat Game Without Walking

YouTuber Beats Dark Souls 2 Without Walking

Souls games are known for their difficulty and in the face of adversity, some brave players will attempt almost impossible feats to trivialise the challenge. A YouTuber has now taken it upon themselves to beat Dark Souls 2 without walking, solely relying on backstepping and attacking to move, albeit at a snail’s pace.

YouTuber ymfah recently posted a challenge run where he beat Dark Souls 2 without walking by disabling the joysticks, removing his ability to walk (he reckons the character has broken legs). As a result, most of his progress – the simple act of walking forward – was done using a variety of clever methods including backstepping and the attack animation for punching or using a weapon which very slightly moves the character forward.

The downside to using these methods is that you aren’t able to determine which direction you’re going in. Thankfully if an enemy is nearby, using lock-on will then turn the character in the direction they need to go. As you can imagine, this involves a lot of luck and very good knowledge of enemy placement to make it through the game. The video is around 1 hour and 24 minutes but it’s absolutely captivating to watch from beginning to end, if just to see how he cleverly works his way out of situations.

There have been other examples of players using unconventional methods to beat From Software’s games. One Elden Ring Twitch streamer beat two Malenias on different screens while using both a dance pad and controller simultaneously. Another went as far as using their brain signals to beat Malenia, which is arguably the hardest boss in the base game.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is now available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC. Watch ymfah’s full gameplay walkthrough below where he shows you exactly how to beat Dark Souls 2 without walking:
