Yu-Gi-Oh! The Movie, or also known as Yu-Gi-Oh! The Movie: Pyramid of Light, is getting a steelbook Blu-Ray release this August with pre-orders opening up on Amazon today. Details are still scarce about the re-release though for enthusiasts of the anime and the best-selling card game, it might make for a great collector’s item – if you don’t mind importing it, at least.
Amazon currently has the steelbook Blu-Ray release of Yu-Gi-Oh! The Movie up for pre-order at $30 ahead of its 20 August release date, though it seems to be only limited to the US for the time being. If you really can’t wait, the movie is also available on standard Blu-Ray for R229. It seems like importing might be your only option right now for the steelbook edition until Amazon South Africa lists the items, but it shouldn’t be an issue for die-hard fans of the franchise willing to spend a bit extra on shipping.
Yu-Gi-Oh! The Movie takes place between the third and fourth seasons of the anime and follows Yugi and his friends as they’re sucked into a strange monolith called the Pyramid of Light, created by the Egyptian God of the Underworld and Yami’s ancient rival, Anubis. As you can imagine, Anubis is seeking revenge and up for a card game.
The plot description reads:
“Underneath the sands of Egypt, Anubis, an ancient evil spirit, has awakened. It’s up to Yugi, who defeated Anubis centuries ago, to use his skill and determination to rid the world of evil once again.”
In order anime news, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex studio Production I.G. is working with Netflix on an anime original series set in the Terminator universe. All eight episodes of Terminator Zero arrive on Netflix on 29 August 2024.
