Borderlands Remastered and Borderlands 2 UHD Update Announced – Coming Sooner Than You Think

At their PAX East Theatre Show, Gearbox Software announced the much-rumoured Borderlands Remastered to tide us over until the release of Borderlands 3. Gearbox revealed that the original game that set the bar for looter shooters will be coming to PS4 and Xbox One in 4K with a load of new updates and features and best of all, it is releasing pretty soon.

Borderlands: Remastered will be hitting PS4, Xbox One and PC on 3 April 2019 and will be called “Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition”. It will be released with a load of new features. The game will come with new weapons substantial visual upgrades, quality of life improvements, all four add-on packs, 4-player split screen, new visual customization for characters and more, Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition is the brand new definitive version of the award-winning 2009 first-person shooter/role-playing game hybrid Borderlands, available now for the first time on current generation consoles.

As for Borderlands: The Handsome Collection, that will also be receiving some major work next week on 3 April 2019. The game will be receiving a UHD 4K texture update that will push the visual fidelity of the game through the roof. The update will increase resolution and texture quality so if you are playing on PS4 Pro and Xbox One, you will be playing the game in native 4K.

Gearbox states that the update will also enhance the game for people playing on non-4K hardware too as the patch enhances the overall experience. The update will be completely free and will release on 3 April 2019 for Borderlands: The Handsome Collection. This is no doubt the year of Borderlands and the new updates to the collection and the release of Borderlands Remastered will keep us busy until Borderlands 3 releases sometime in the future.
