Diablo 4 Goes Gold Ahead of Launch This June

Blizzard Entertainment has announced that Diablo 4, its anticipated upcoming action-RPG, has gone gold ahead of its big launch this June. The game is just under two months away but it looks like it has now reached a new development milestone where it’s in a complete enough state to start the disc-printing phase. Diablo 4 is set to launch on consoles and PC on 6 June 2023.

Blizzard Entertainment took to Twitter to share the exciting news with fans, confirming that Diablo 4 has officially gone gold with the caption “Can you feel her presence now?”, likely referring to the game’s main antagonist and daughter of Hatred, Lilith. It’s uncommon for games to go gold months before the game launches, though this will give the developers more time to make some finishing touches that could add to a day one patch (a requirement since the game is always online).

Diablo 4 held two beta weekends last month which attracted the attention of millions of players, making it one of the most successful betas in Blizzard’s history. The limited time betas allowed players to hit a level cap of 25 and experiment with various builds and skills in the early game as well as explore one of five unique zones on the world map called Fractured Peaks.

According to stats released by Blizzard, the Sorcerer and Necromancer were the most played classes during the beta out of the five classes which includes Druid, Barbarian and Rogue. A whopping 61 million accumulative hours was played in the open beta alone. Only around 100,000 players were able to defeat the world boss, Ashava, while half a million players encountered and managed to defeat The Butcher, a random spawn in the beta.

Things can only go up from here as Blizzard is gearing up for Diablo 4‘s final launch, scheduled to release on 6 June 2023 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
