Fortnite is Reportedly Getting a First-Person Mode

After months of rumours, it appears that Epic Games’ popular battle royale Fortnite will finally receive a first-person mode. According to a new report, the first-person mode will arrive in the game’s next major update which will kick off its new season. Instead of alternating between first and third-person when using some weapons, this update will apparently lock players into a first-person perspective.

According to regular Fortnite leaker HypeX who has a credible history of accurate leaks and insider information related to the game, Fortnite‘s next season will introduce a first-person mode that will allow players to experience the game from a different perspective. Some guns in the game already feature first-person views when aiming down sights but the update will reportedly let players constantly stay in first-person.

HypeX claimed that a reliable source corroborated the information to other Fortnite leakers. Epic Games has yet to address these leaks or make an official announcement about a first-person mode but we shouldn’t have to wait too long as these leaks are quickly gaining traction online. The current season of Fortnite will end on 8 March so it’s possible that this update will arrive on 9 March. However, it could also be added later into the season’s content updates as well.

Fortnite won’t be the only popular battle royale on the market to don a first-person mode. Call of Duty: Warzone and Apex Legends both exclusively use a first-person perspective but Fortnite will be a special case as it will give players two options.

A first-person perspective could reshape Fortnite‘s gameplay in some unique ways. Not only does it deliver more accurate aiming but it could also elevate the competitive nature of the game. Time will tell if these reports turn out to be true but as always, take this with a pinch of salt.
