Hogwarts Legacy Could Include Dark Magic Thanks to 16+ Age Rating

The upcoming Hogwarts Legacy might be the mature Wizarding World video game we have been waiting for. While the game was sadly delayed into 2022, it seems that when it does finally release, players might be in for a dark treat. By the sound of things, Hogwarts Legacy could include dark magic in the game allowing players to use deadly spells that might actually kill their enemies and fellow wizards.

In a recent interaction with a fan, Hogwarts Legacy writer DC Allen responded to a question related to the game’s so-called “mature rating”. A fan asked whether or not players could kill other humans in Hogwarts Legacy. Allen replied saying that the age rating of 16+ should allow for murder as long as it is not gruesome.

Allen then followed up by saying that the world of Hogwarts Legacy is full of evil. It is unclear what he meant by this but by the sound of things, he might be referring to the threats that await the player and how they can defend themselves from the evil. If this is by making use of dark magic especially the popular “Killing Curse” then we might be in for a darker game after all.

While the Killing Curse, Avada Kedavra has been present in most of the Harry Potter books, the spell hasn’t been implemented into any of the games. This was to keep the age rating down. However, Hogwarts Legacy wants to target 16+ so there is a good chance that the game might switch things up when it comes to just how dark the world and the magic really are.

Hogwarts Legacy is set to launch sometime in 2022 for PS5, PS4, Xbox and PC. Take a look at the announcement trailer down below.
