Ubisoft claims that the new consoles not only allow for higher frame rates at increased resolutions but they also provide better lighting and depth of field. This means players will be able to experience the game with some enhanced visual fidelity when it comes to the lighting, texture quality and even the draw distance.

Rainbox Six: Siege on the PS5 and Xbox Series X will include two performance modes to choose from.

  • Performance Mode: Target 120 fps with 4k Dynamic Resolution Scaling
  • Resolution Mode: Target 60 fps with 4k Resolution
  • Activity Card support for Ranked, Unranked, Newcomer, Quick Match, & Events so players can dive into the game faster

In addition to this, Ubisoft says the game loads instantly thanks to the SSD in the PS5. This means players can jump into games faster than ever before.

Ubisoft is also taking advantage of the DualSense controller with haptic feedback and adaptive trigger support for better immersion and improved reflexes during gunfights. Squeezing the R2 trigger emulates the resistance of an actual gun trigger and each weapon will deliver a unique tension in the trigger.

Players will also be able to feel the difference between single fire and full-automatic for full immersion.[/perfectpullquote]

Upgrading to Rainbow Six: Siege on PS5 and Xbox Series X is simple. If you own the digital versions of the game, you can instantly download the enhanced edition. If you own a disc, you need to insert the disc into your console which will prompt the download of the next-gen version. Ubisoft claims that all progression is carried over to the new version and players can also enjoy playing cross-play with their friends. All of this goes live on 1 December 2020.
