New images have popped up online that claim to be from a planned Silent Hill 2 remake. Over the weekend, these images circulated on social media before hitting forums, Reddit and other platforms. According to the source, the images come from a reported internal pitch demo for the Silent Hill 2 Remake. Soon after the images leaked, various sources close to the project confirmed them to be true which gives us some idea that Konami is indeed working on a remake for the game.
Now, this is not the first time we have heard of this so-called “Silent Hill 2 Remake“. In fact, we have done nothing but report on a handful of Silent Hill games over the course of the past few months (if not years). There are apparently many Silent Hill games in development at studios around the world and this remake is just one of them.
The latest Silent Hill 2 Remake images come from Bloober Team and its current project. Source Dusk Golem claims that they were included in an internal pitch during the project’s early development before the game was officially greenlit at Konami. The images are concept art and don’t represent what the game actually looks like.
“These are from an internal pitch demo from Bloober before they got greenlit, so it’s literally a no-budget proof of concept thing. This isn’t actually what the final game looks like,” he continued.
We reported earlier this year that Bloober Team was working on a new Silent Hill game. Konami is attempting to revive the dormant series after years of silence. Silent Hill 2 Remake is reportedly in active development at the studio and planned to release as a timed exclusive on PS4 and PS5. There is also a PC release planned. However, there is also word of other Silent Hill games in the works.
Other games include a so-called “short stories” project at Annapurna Interactive. The studio worked on games including Sayonara Wild Hearts and Outer Wilds. We don’t know when Konami plans on announcing these games. If Sony has a times exclusive contract with the Silent Hill 2 Remake then perhaps expect it during the company’s rumoured State of Play this month.
