Marvel is slowly rolling out the fourth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and we officially know now Taki Waititi will be returning as the director of Thor 4.
THR reports Taki will also be writing the screenplay for Thor 4 which is said to feature crossovers from Guardians of the Galaxy.
There is also bad news though. Now that Taki Waititi is working on Thor 4, Warner Bros. announced the stuck-in-development-hell film Akira has been delayed indefinitely. Originally scheduled to release in May 2021, the film has been pushed back to accommodate Taki taking the helm on Thor 4.

Marvel’s next movie phase is taking shape with new film announcements said to be revealed at San Diego Comic-Con kicking off tomorrow. Films expected to be announced are Thor 4, Black Widow, The Eternals, Shang-Chi, Black Panther 2, Doctor Strange 2 and perhaps Captain Marvel 2.
The announcements will reveal the foundations for the next series of films which will all tie together to make another explosive couple of years of movies with an ultimate ending as we saw with Avengers: Endgame.
The next Thor will be part of this new collection as it further expands on the events post-Endgame. The idea of the film featuring Guardians of the Galaxy makes sense given how Endgame’s ending puts a large emphasis on Thor being part of the team.
