Apple Sets a Date For WWDC 2024

Apple has announced its WWDC 2024 conference. We all knew it was going to happen sometime in June but now we have a date. The company will kick off its keynote on 10 June where it will unveil the latest software innovations across iOS, macOS, WatchOS and iPadOS.

These announcements usually focus on new software which the public gets their hands on later in the year. Previous WWDC events also played host to a number of hardware announcements. So at the moment, we don’t know if we’ll see a new MacBook or perhaps some USB-C AirPods Max.

The big news here is that WWDC 2024 will play host to Apple’s AI features. The company has reportedly been focusing heavily on AI across iOS and macOS in order to keep up with the growing trend across the industry. So much so that Apple even canned its Project Titan electric vehicle division in order to shift workers over to AI development.

Some reports say that Apple has been spending millions a day to train its own AI models. Some reports also claim that Apple has signed deals with Google, OpenAI and Anthropic to supply cloud-based AI features to the company. Apple plans on mixing cloud-based AI with generative AI which will reportedly be on-device. Whatever Apple is working on when it comes to AI, we’ll see it in June.

A recent report also claimed that iOS 18, which is expected to be announced in June, will play host to the largest software overhaul on the platform since iOS 7. This is thanks to new AI features alongside an overhauled home screen. But we’ll have to wait and see how that plays out.

Of course, you can tune into the WWDC event on 10 June to watch all the announcements. The event kicks off WWDC 2024 which is a four-day event where developers can learn more about the platform and how to implement the latest features into games and apps they make.
