Assassin’s Creed Mirage Won’t Have DLC Says Ubisoft

Ubisoft says that its upcoming stealth action game, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, will not have any DLC or extensive post-launch support. The game looks set to largely be a standalone experience for fans with a definitive ending, though it’s possible that plans could change if it proves to be a massive success. For the time being, though, players can enjoy Mirage without needing to look forward to DLC like previous entries in the series.

Speaking on a recent Reddit AMA, Assassin’s Creed Mirage‘s creative director Stéphane Boudon confirmed that Ubisoft currently has no plans to include DLC or “extensive post-launch content” for the game. This implies that there will be some degree of post-launch support but it probably won’t include significant new story content that fleshes out the narrative. This makes sense as Mirage isn’t a mainline entry in the franchise but rather a spin-off project in the vein of Assassin’s Creed Rogue.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is being developed by Ubisoft Bordeaux, the same development team responsible for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla‘s Wrath of the Druids expansion. It promises to be a return to form for the series with a smaller map and a big focus on stealthy assassinations and parkour. The game is set in 9th-century Baghdad and follows protagonist Basim Ibn Ishaq as he transitions from regular street thug to a fully-fledged member of the Brotherhood, fighting for peace against the Templar Order.

In related news, Ubisoft recently stated that Assassin’s Creed Mirage will ditch the XP-based progression system first introduced in 2017’s Assassin’s Creed Origins (and carried over to Odyssey and Valhalla). Instead, Basim will organically grow as a character and develop new skills and abilities based on the narrative’s progression, similar to older games in the franchise.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage launches on 12 October 2023 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
