Comic-Con Cape Town Announced For 2020

It seems that Cape Town must not be in Africa because it is getting its own Comic-Con next year. ReedPOP revealed the news on Twitter when an account was created called Comic-Con Cape Town.

The account has not tweeted yet nor does it follow anyone, but it does have a brief description on what to expect during its three-day convention next year. You can check out the Twitter account for the event here.

Don’t miss out on the Mother of all pop culture events! 1 – 3 May 2020, Cape Town Stadium.

There is also a website that is currently offline, most likely due to it being way too early to reveal anything about this upcoming event. Comic-Con Cape Town will take place from 1 to 3 May 2020 at the Cape Town Stadium and that is all we know.

It is not all fun and games, however. It seems that Comic-Con Cape Town is no doubt gunning to take down yet another established geek convention. Just like Comic-Con Africa is taking place just three days before rAge 2019, Comic-Con Cape Town is also taking place just three days after Cape Town’s biggest geek convention, FanCon. The dates could surely have been arranged at another time.

Regardless, the need for a Comic-Con Cape Town is still up to debate. They should have called the one “Comic-Con Johannesburg” in all honesty if they had plans to have one in every province in South Africa. Then again, Cape Town does make for a gorgeous location for something like this. Let’s just hope The Sunday Times does not attend this one.
