Capcom has officially revealed the release date for its upcoming action-RPG Dragon’s Dogma 2 along with a bunch of new gameplay breaking down the game’s classes, combat, monsters, story and more. Instead of being a traditional direct sequel to the first game, Capcom also confirmed that it takes place in a “parallel world” and twists some familiar plot elements from the original to make it a fresh experience (and a perfect jumping-in point for newcomers).
A Dragon’s Dogma 2 showcase, presented by director Hideaki Itsuno and producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, was held yesterday giving fans a proper glimpse at new gameplay and story details. As the story goes, a giant named Talos emerges from the sea and begins to cause chaos on the kingdom. It’s up to you to stop its rampage and save the land from impending disaster. Along the way, you’ll also recruit some AI-controlled companions called Pawns to venture off and slay a variety of monsters.

“Dragon’s Dogma is a tale of the Arisen, whose heart is taken by the dragon,” said Hirabayashi. “While this sequel mirrors the world setting of the first game, the adventure takes place in a parallel world.” A release date of 22 March 2024 was also confirmed by Capcom.
The official description of Dragon’s Dogma 2 reads:
“Dragon’s Dogma is a single player, narrative driven action-RPG series that challenges the players to choose their own experience – from the appearance of their Arisen, their vocation, their party, how to approach different situations and more. Now, in this long-awaited sequel, the deep, explorable fantasy world of Dragon’s Dogma 2 awaits. On your journey, you’ll be joined by Pawns, mysterious otherworldly beings, in an adventure so unique you will feel as if accompanied by other players while on your own adventure.”
Pre-orders for the game’s standard and Deluxe editions are officially open for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
In other news, Capcom still has a ‘major unannounced title‘ set to release by March 2024. According to leaker Dusk Golem, it’s not a Resident Evil game. A reveal is likely to happen at The Game Awards in December.
