Fallout 4 launched its long-awaited next-gen update for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S yesterday, delivering some much-needed improvements to the visuals and frame rate in order to bring it up to scratch on modern hardware. However, PlayStation Plus Extra members who downloaded the game through the subscription service noticed that the PS5 update wasn’t available for them unless they purchased the game digitally. Bethesda has now clarified that this was due to a bug and PS Plus Extra members will get the update soon.
Bethesda addressed the PS Plus Extra issue on Twitter/X yesterday, confirming that it’s currently working on giving subscribers an option for the PS5 update. The company says it was due to a bug that PS Plus Extra members couldn’t upgrade Fallout 4. Over on Xbox, Game Pass subscribers were given the option to upgrade to the Xbox Series X/S or updated PC version without much hassle.
Unless you already own Fallout 4 on PS4, either with a physical copy or digital versoin, you couldn’t upgrade to PS5 with the PS Plus Extra version. Unfortunately, Bethesda also revealed that players who downloaded the game via the PS5 Catalogue or PS Plus Essentials (when it was available as a free monthly title years ago) won’t be able to upgrade those versions to PS5. At least not yet as Bethesda does “not have any information” regarding those versions.
We’ve seen some confusion regarding the free Fallout 4 next-gen update for PlayStation Plus Extra members. The Fallout 4 next-gen update will be available to PlayStation Plus Extra members through the PlayStation Game Catalog. Your patience is appreciated while the teams work on…
