Fortnite Season 8 Will Very Likely Have a Pirate Theme

Even with some strong competition from Apex Legends, Fortnite is still doing extremely well and that is, in part, because there is always something to look forward to. Just last week, we reported that the game reached a new non-special event concurrent players record of a whopping 7.6 million and I can’t even imagine what the player count will look like when Fortnite Season 8 kicks off later this week. Especially if many Fortnite players would love nothing more than a pirate theme.

Developer Epic Games is teasing the theme for Fortnite Season 8 and it will very likely have something to do with pirates. In the game right now, there are cracks all over the map and players are speculating that these cracks will break apart the land into islands, setting things up for Fortnite Season 8.

Epic also shared the image at the top of this article, accompanied by a Tweet, which said:

‘X’ Marks The Spot
Treasure abound
Loot that has been lost
Can always be found.
4 days to Season 8.

That does sound very pirate-like to me and there’s more. The game’s lead designer, Eric Williamson, was asked to describe Fortnite Season 8 in four words on Reddit, to which he replied the following:

Card

Taking a wild guess here, but maybe we will see monkeys leave a banana trail to some loot, or players will be able to get a weapon that shoots bananas. Alternatively, Mr Williamson could also mean that Fortnite Season 8 is going to be absolutely crazy. Fortunately, we won’t have to wait long, as Season 8 launches this Thursday, 28 February 2019.

Don’t forget that you have a few more days left to earn that free Fortnite Season 8 battle pass, so complete those challenges as fast as you can.
