Ghost of Tsushima Being Developed for the PS5 – Rumour

New information about Suckerpunch’s Ghost of Tsushima hasn’t been available for quite a while now and since Sony didn’t attend E3 2019 and we haven’t really seen anything about the game or a potential release date. If you’ve been wondering what’s going on with the game and when you will be taking a trip to feudal Japan and jumping into the boots of protagonist Jin Sakai, then you are not alone. Apparently, Ghost of Tsushima is being developed for the PS5 as well as the PS4 and that’s one of the reasons for the game not having an exact release date yet.

Yesterday, launch plans for the PS5 apparently leaked and even though it is still a rumour at this point, the information does look pretty solid. According to a supposed internal memo, Sony plans to showcase the PS5 on 12 February 2020 during the PlayStation Meeting and that both The Last of Us Part II and Ghost of Tsushima might be launch titles.

There have been some internal delays due to the technical work needed to port Ghost of Tsushima to the PS5. Therefore, we won’t be seeing the game at the next State of Play in November, but instead, we will hear more about the game at the PlayStation Meeting on 12 February 2020.

Speaking about the State of Play event and the progress on Ghost of Tsushima, the leaked information reads:

[perfectpullquote align=”full” bordertop=”false” cite=”” link=”” color=”#33fff6″ class=”” size=”22″]Ghost of Tsushima is not scheduled for this event. But it seems that the development of the game is proceeding in a more than favourable manner within the SP studios, but that it has also encountered considerable delays at the same time, mainly due to greater work on the technical side of the software for textures and framerates to favour in particular the technical upgrade that will be given by the new hardware features of PS5.[/perfectpullquote]

Therefore, marketing resources will be concentrated on Ghost of Tsushima for the next event in 2020 (PlayStation Meeting) and not for the State of Play in November 2019.
