Ahead of Dragon’s Dogma 2’s launch next week, Capcom has discounted the original game by quite a hefty amount. Across most platforms where the game is available, you can pick up the classic RPG for under R80.
While I would usually say “Don’t buy these old games because they are… old”, Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen is still a masterpiece today. Beyond the slightly dated visuals, the gameplay is still top-notch and as a package for R50, it packs hundreds of hours of content.
This is especially true given the version on sale includes the Dark Arisen expansion which was phenomenal on its own. It took players to Bitterblack Isle as they explored different levels of a mysterious castle. At the bottom, players would face off against Daimon. The DLC includes new skills, gear and enemies. You can also jump into just the DLC if you never played it.
I am also sharing this news because on 22 March, when Dragon’s Dogma 2 launches, two other big titles are releasing on the same day too. Princess Peach Showtime! and Rise of the Ronin. So perhaps you’re in two minds about Dragon’s Dogma 2.
I would suggest picking up the original for a measly R50 and giving it a go before spending the hefty R1399 (cries) on the game. While I am a big fan of the original, this isn’t your typical “Dragon Age” or Skyrim” game. Some people who played the original didn’t enjoy it at all.
You can find the game on the various platforms below. Sadly, the only platform without the game discounted is PlayStation. However, it is included in the current PlayStation Plus Extra Game Catalogue.
- PlayStation: Included with PlayStation Plus Extra
- Xbox: R68.82
- Nintendo Switch: R79.70
- PC Through Steam: R57.60
