Disney is pushing back a number of Marvel films that aim to lay down the foundations for the next phase in the MCU. Some films see a slight delay while others are delayed quite significantly. The delay spans a number of Marvel titles including Blade, the recently announced Deadpool 3, Fantastic Four and Avengers: Secret Wars.
Disney didn’t share details on the reason behind these delays. However, we suspect the delay comes from the recent controversy surrounding Blade. This delay has likely had a domino effect on other movies in the lineup. Blade has been delayed by almost an entire year alongside Deadpool 3. The other two films have also seen quite a big delay but nothing as drastic as Blade and Deadpool.
Disney revealed the new release dates for these films and they are as follows:
- Blade – originally set to launch on 3 November 2023 – delayed to 6 September 2024
- Deadpool – originally set to launch on 6 September 2023 – delayed to 8 November 2024
- Fantastic Four – originally set to launch on 7 November 2025 – delayed to 1 May 2026
- Avengers: Secret Wars – originally set to launch on 7 November 2025 – delayed to 1 May 2026
Of course, Disney likely has other projects in the works to fill these gaps. This includes Disney+ original shows and movies surrounding the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, the delays now mean you won’t get to enjoy some anticipated titles until 2026.
