Some details for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 from developer Insomniac Games have seemingly leaked. The anticipated PS5 game is expected to arrive in 2023 only, but it seems like some details have already managed to surface online, including how playing as both Miles Morales and Peter Parker will work in the game.
The leak comes from a Reddit post covering an anonymous 4chan leak that detailed plenty of new information about Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Since this is a leak from 4chan, we recommend taking it with a massive grain of salt as false information has spread from the anonymous message boards before.
The anonymous leaker first claimed that these details appeared on a leaked email with several Insomniac employees names attached. They chose not to reveal those names, but went on to detail what they learned about the game.
Basically, players won’t be able to switch out between Miles and Peter in missions as certain missions are tied to a specific character. They’ll then be able to free roam with that hero in between missions for side content. This is similar to what was accomplished in Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart last year, as well as games like Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot and Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn.
The leak finally mentions that there will be a third playable character that cannot free roam, but will have a different playstyle to the Spider-Men that allows them to kill people using smoke, projectiles and “a type of organic or artificial tentacles.” The mention of “tentacles” has lead some to believe that we might play as the symbiote Venom or a symbiote variant of Peter.
Insomniac Games first unveiled Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 last year, confirming that we’ll be able to play as both Peter Parker and Miles Morales. Fans initially assumed that we’ll be able to freely switch between each hero during the story, but if this leak is true, then we’ll only be able to play with each in certain missions that lead into free roam sections for them.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is currently in development exclusively for PS5.
