Melon Mobile launched in South Africa a few months back but if you were looking for an eSIM option they didn’t have one at the time. This has now changed thanks to the new Melon Mobile eSIM support in South Africa and you can sign up and add the plan to your phone within a few minutes.
If you don’t know, eSIM support offers a great way for users to add data plans to their mobile devices. So you can have your SIM card with one line and an eSIM with your data. Melon Mobile also offers quite affordable data packages which makes this a great option for customers.

The brand offers once-off data plans starting at R60 per 1GB. You can also sign up for other packages such as the Melon Mobile Student plan for R280. This includes 5GB of data, 50 minutes of calling and 50 texts.
Melon Mobile also lets you build your own plan. The more data you pay for, the cheaper it gets. You can buy 5GB of data for R230. This costs R70 less than purchasing five 1GB bundles at a time.
According to Melon Mobile, getting the eSIM set up is painless. You just download the app on iOS or Android, select “I Need a SIM” choose “eSIM” and follow the prompts to activate the eSIM. You can then piggyback off the data and plan you choose after building the best package that suits you.
Melon Mobile is also launching Family Plans in October on the service. You’ll be able to create multiple subscriptions on one account and assign different data and voice limits to each profile. The family plan will let customers keep tabs on the data usage for different family members while also controlling how much they spend on network services each month.
