Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin Announced For PS4

Capcom is finally bringing both Monster Hunter Stories games to PS4 after being locked to only Nintendo Switch and PC for years. The company recently confirmed that Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin will be heading to Sony’s last-gen console with the fully remastered first game included as a special set.

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin originally launched on Nintendo Switch and PC back in 2021. Capcom has now announced that the sequel, along with the remastered first game, will release digitally on PS4 on 14 June 2024. It’s a bit strange that it’s not releasing on PS5, which means PS5 players will have to play the PS4 version via backward compatibility.

A Deluxe Edition of Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin will include a number of extra goodies and content including additional outfits, sticker sets and costumes for Navirou.

Those who purchase the Monster Hunter Stories Collection will get access to the first game remastered as well as Wings of Ruin.

Taking a decidedly different approach to the monster-slaying of the mainline games, the smaller Stories titles focus on training monsters and riding them into battles. A new expedition will be included in the PS4 version which tasks players with tackling a quest involving Rathalos:

“Set in the expansive and dynamic world of Monster Hunter, players follow the footsteps of their grandfather Red, a legendary Rider, and ride Monsties with Ena, a Wyverian girl who has been entrusted with an egg with the potential to hatch into a Rathalos. This legendary monster holds immense power capable of wreaking havoc if its destructive abilities are unleashed. It’s up to players to test the bonds of friendship with Monsties and discover the hidden truths behind ancient legends.”
