Red Dead Redemption Remaster Gets 60 FPS Support on PS5

Rockstar secretly rolled out a new patch for the Red Dead Redemption Remaster last night which unlocked a higher frame rate mode when playing the game on PS5 through backwards compatibility. Users can now enable a 60 FPS mode in Red Dead Redemption Remaster.

The new patch came with update 1.03 and while the patch notes didn’t exactly mention anything about the 60 FPS mode, users discovered the feature when booting up the game. You’ll now find the toggle in the settings menu.

You’ll need a PS5 in order to enable the feature. It seems there are no optional graphics modes for PS4 or PS4 Pro. The feature only appears when playing Red Dead Redemption Remaster on PS5 through backwards compatibility.

Red Dead Redemption Remaster was released to some rather nasty backlash from fans. The game’s visuals are subpar and fans criticized the lack of polish across the UI. Graphics analysis videos reveal that the UI in Red Dead Redemption Remaster is in fact 720p upscaled to 4K. This results in a low-resolution HUD and blurry text.

While the 60 FPS mode won’t fix any of these issues, it is nice to see the game getting some sort of visual improvement. Fans were hoping for a remake of Red Dead Redemption. Instead, they got a remaster with a 720p HUD. At least you can now see that HUD in 60 FPS.
