Resident Evil 4 Remake ‘Separate Ways’ DLC Datamined

The Resident Evil 4 remake from Capcom launched last week to critical acclaim, reimagining the classic title with updated visuals, improved controls and added content. However, it also excluded some content that was originally present in the PS2 version of the original, namely Ada Wong’s Separate Ways sub-story. It appears that her story is being planned as DLC for the remake, according to a recent datamine of the game’s files.

Dataminer Gosetsu recently unearthed a folder known as The Another Order from the Resident Evil 4 remake’s files, which was the Japanese title for Separate Ways. In addition, files for the Chainsaw demo and The Mercenaries were also found – the latter will arrive as as a free DLC update this April.

Separate Ways originally featured on the PS2 version of Resident Evil 4 but was not present on the GameCube version. Instead, GameCube players got Assignment Ada, a shorter version of Separate Ways set on the island. The additional story content allows players to control Ada Wong as she tackles her own assignment concurrent to Leon’s in the main story.

A previous report from leaker Dusk Golem claimed that Separate Ways was already in the works at Capcom as DLC, but it would be an expanded version of the original sub-story. Considering the excellent expanded content in the remake, we can surely expect great things from Ada’s campaign.

Capcom’s official description for the Resident Evil 4 remake reads:

“Resident Evil 4 is a remake of the 2005 original Resident Evil 4 Reimagined for 2023 to bring state-of-the-art survival horror. Resident Evil 4 preserves the essence of the original game, while introducing modernized gameplay, a reimagined storyline, and vividly detailed graphics to make this the latest survival horror game where life and death, terror and catharsis intersect.”

Resident Evil 4 is currently available for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. Read our full review here.
