Leaked documents that have popped up as part of the Apple vs Epic Games lawsuit reveal that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 will only be an Xbox exclusive for three months. The game was announced in 2020 as a “next-gen” Xbox exclusive thanks to its new engine which is not capable of running on PS4 and Xbox. However, many users have wondered whether or not the game will launch on PS5 seen as the studio behind the game, GSC World, is not an Xbox-owned company.
We can now rest assured that the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 legal agreement with Microsoft stipulates that the property is only to remain on Xbox for three months after launch. With that being said, don’t expect a PS5 version of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 right after the agreement ends. Developer CSG has mentioned in the past that they had “no plans” to release a PlayStation version of the game. This was most likely to drive the Xbox partnership.

The agreement between CSG Games and Microsoft only means that the developer can release S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 on PS5 after three months. It does not actually confirm that will ever happen. Given that past S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games did not make their way to the PlayStation, we will most likely see S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 on PS5 in the near future. However, the three-month agreement does not necessarily mean the game will be ready to go the moment the time is up.
