Star Wars: Andor Series Gets New Trailer and September Premiere

The next Star Wars series, Andor, is coming to Disney+ on 21 September 2022. Disney revealed a brand new trailer for the upcoming show from the creators of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, telling a more grounded and gritty Star Wars adventure. The show will debut with a three-episode premiere next moth.

Andor is set during the early days of the Rebellion which focuses on the Empire’s rise to power and the rebel groups that form as a result. Diego Luna will reprise his role as Cassian Andor, who portrayed the character in Rogue One.

Andor will also star Genevieve O’Reilly as Mon Mothma, Alex Ferns as Sgt. Kostek and Clemens Schick. Stellan Skarsgard, best known for his roles in films like The Avengers and The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, will also appear in the show.

The series was originally meant to release on 31 August with a two-episode premiere. However, that has now been delayed by a month, adding one more episode to its premiere lineup.

The official description for Andor provided by Disney reads:

“The Andor series will explore a new perspective from the Star Wars galaxy, focusing on Cassian Andor’s journey to discover the difference he can make. The series brings forward the tale of the burgeoning rebellion against the Empire and how people and planets became involved. It’s an era filled with danger, deception and intrigue where Cassian will embark on the path that is destined to turn him into a rebel hero.

Diego Luna returns as Cassian Andor and is joined by cast members Genevieve O’Reilly, Stellan Skarsgård, Adria Arjona, Denise Gough and Kyle Soller. The executive producers are Kathleen Kennedy, Sanne Wohlenberg, Diego Luna and Michelle Rejwan. Tony Gilroy is the creator and showrunner.”
