The Batman 2 Has Been Delayed to October 2026

The Batman 2 (or The Batman Part II as it’s officially titled) has been delayed by a year from October 2025 to October 2026. Warner Bros. announced the date change yesterday, though didn’t offer an explanation for why it was delayed. The anticipated DC sequel starring Robert Pattinson will now release a bit later than initially planned.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. made the decision to move The Batman 2‘s release to October 2026. While no explanation was given, fans speculate that there’s some release date reshuffling happening at the company regarding James Gunn’s rebooted DC universe, which is expected to kick off in 2025 with the release of Superman: Legacy. The Batman 2 could’ve simply needed more time in production due to actor’s scheduling conflicts as well.

The Batman released in 2022 to critical acclaim. It starred Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Paul Dano as The Riddler, Colin Farrell as The Penguin, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth and Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon. A reboot of the franchise, The Batman followed the early years of the Caped Crusader as he hunt down criminals in Gotham. However, the emergence of an elusive serial killer called The Riddler forces Batman to question his motives and confront what it means to be a vigilante.

The official plot description reads:

“Two years of nights have turned Bruce Wayne into a nocturnal animal. But as he continues to find his way as Gotham’s dark knight Bruce is forced into a game of cat and mouse with his biggest threat so far, a manic killer known as The Riddler who is filled with rage and determined to expose the corrupt system whilst picking off all of Gotham’s key political figures.”
