The Outlast Trials Toxic Shock Event Now Live

Starting from 16 April and ending on 7 May, The Outlast Trials is hosting a special Toxic Shock event. The limited-timed event adds a new layer of pain to the experiments thanks to the new chemically-induced permanent damage modifier.

The new Variator is called Toxic Shock and when active, the test environment sporadically fills with toxic gas, inflicting permanent damage to players. You’ll need to hide to stay alive and be sure to equip your best mods to counter the damaging gas.

Each experiment now also features drugged rats which players can collect as they go about the normal objectives. These rats contain additional rewards should the player collect them all.

All these new features in The Outlast Trials Toxic Shock event contribute to the game’s new limited-timed rewards. These cosmetic items are unlocked using the Toxic Shock Tokens you’ll earn simply by playing The Outlast Trials during the event. Players can earn two exclusive skins, various cell props, night vision goggles cosmetics, icons and posters.

Keep in mind that these cosmetic items won’t be available after the event ends so if you want to earn them, best do so before 7 May.

Apart from the Toxic Shock event, The Outlast Trials has also added two Mk-Challenges to the game. These new Mk-Challenges are available as part of the event and will be added as Weekly Trials on 7 May.

  • Tilt The Scales of Justice – Can real evidence of false crimes outweigh the power of corrupting wealth? Load the scales of Lady Justice and observe.
  • Sabotage the Factory – Murkoff controls the means of production; use the emergency breaks to shut down the factory.

The Outlast Trials is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. I recently reviewed the game and called it one of the best horror experiences of the decade. Read my full review here.
