Wednesday Season 2 Steve Buscemi Netflix

Netflix’s Wednesday Season 2 Adds Steve Buscemi to The Cast

Netflix has cast actor Steve Buscemi in an undisclosed role for season 2 of its hit series, Wednesday. Buscemi will star alongside Jenna Ortega for the second season, who is reprising her role as the titular member of the Addams family.

As reported by Variety, Steve Buscemi, best known for his work on Boardwalk Empire and Fargo, will join the cast of Wednesday for season 2. While his role wasn’t officially mentioned, sources close to Variety claim that he’ll be playing Nevermore Academy’s new principal, replacing former principal Larissa Weems (played by Gwendoline Christie).

Buscemi has a long history in the movie and television industry, getting his breakout starring role in Quentin Tarantino’s Reservoir Dogs before going on to star in other movies such as The Big Lebowski, Con Air, Mr. Deeds and Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams.

Season 2 of Wednesday will see the return of most of the cast from the first season (with some spoilery exceptions, of course), though there’s plenty of speculation about who could be joining the cast including an Addams family member who has yet to make an appearance in the show: Cousin Itt. “We can’t wait to dive headfirst into another season and explore the kooky, spooky world of Nevermore,” said co-showrunners Miles Millar and Alfred Gough. “We just need to make sure Wednesday hasn’t emptied the pool first.”

In a previous interview with E!, Jenna Ortega teased that the second season would lean more into horror. The first season certainly had some horror elements in it but the central detective mystery and dark humour mostly overshadowed them, so it’s great to hear that the show wants to explore the scarier side of the Addams family. Shooting is expected to commence this month, though a release date hasn’t been set yet by Netflix.

The first season of Wednesday is streaming exclusively on Netflix.
