All The Disney and Marvel Announcements From The D23 Event

Marvel fans were in for a treat during the jampacked Marvel and Disney showcase during this weekend’s D23 2022 event. There was a lot to take in, from upcoming games, movies and TV shows to world premiers and trailers. In case you missed it, you can also read our coverage of all the big announcements from Pixar and Disney during the event here.

All The Disney And Marvel Announcements From The D23 Event

Werewolf By Night

One of Marvel’s showcase’s most “out-of-nowhere” announcements was their Halloween special premiering on Disney+ on 7 October. Nothing is known about the special outside of the trailer, although we know it will feature Man-Thing.

Secret Invasion

Thanks to this weekend’s D23 2022 event, we finally have our first trailer for the highly-anticipated Secret Invasion series. The series will follow Nick Fury as he deals with the Skrulls invading Earth.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns

Surprising absolutely no one at this point, Marvel’s Midnight Suns has yet another new release date. However, this time it’s not another delay; instead, the game is now set for a 2 December release date for PS5, Xbox Series X/X and PC.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora

2022 seems to be the year of Avatar. Those who aren’t yet tired of hearing about the franchise are in for a treat with the new trailer for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.

Avatar: Reckoning

Another Avatar announcement was about Avatar: Reckoning. Thanks to a new trailer released during the event, we now better understand what the gameplay will look and feel like.

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Galactic Edition

Marvel Snap

For those of us who love playing Hearthstone but also love Marvel, Marvel Snap might be the next time sync. Marvel Snap is a strategy card game much like Hearthstone and will be coming to mobile devices on 18 October.

Illusion Island

My personal favourite announcement to have come from this weekend is a platformer called Illusion Island. Releasing on the Nintendo Switch with a co-op mode so you can play with a friend, Illusion Island looks like a must-play for fans of Mickey Mouse and friends.

Return to Monkey Island

With the release of Return to Monkey Island just days away, fans were treated to a new trailer for the game that will be hitting screens on 19 September.

Disney Dreamlight Valley

We’ve been spending a lot of time in Dreamlight Valley, Disney’s take on a game like Animal crossing. During the D23 event, we got our first look at the game’s first expansion – Toy Story.

Disney Speedstorm

Very little is known about Disney Speedstorm at the moment but what we do know looks fantastic. Think of a full-on racing game with Micky Mouse and Captain Jacksparrow behind the wheel. It seems entertaining and judging from the trailer, it will be a good one.

Disney Mirrorverse

Disney’s next big entry to the world of mobile games will be Mirrorverse. Mirrorverse is a mobile RPG and will include many beloved (and feared) Disney villains.

Marvel Strike Force

There were a few mobile game announcements during the event and a few updates for existing ones. Marvel Strike Force is a game that’s been around for a few years, but the turn-based RPG is getting a nice big update that will see many new Hulks enter the game.

New Black Panther / Captain America Game

One of the most exciting announcements is a new Marvel game that will see Captain America and Black Panther team up to take out Nazis during World War II. The game is in good hands, too, with Amy Hennig from the Uncharted series at the helm.

Aliens: Dark Descent

Aliens: Dark Decent was one of the new announcements from the event and showcased a squad-based RTS strategy game set within the Alien universe.

Marvel World of Heroes

Just after the world started moving back inside from being outdoors playing Pokémon Go, Marvel decided to throw players back out to the outdoors again. Marvel World of Heroes is an AR mobile game that will have you protecting your neighbourhood as only a good hero can – Thanos won’t be clicking any fingers on your watch.

Tron: Identity

Tron fans everywhere can get excited knowing that a new Tron game is in the works, Tron: Identity. Not much is known about this upcoming project other than that the game will adopt a visual novel style.
