Baldur’s Gate 3 Physical Xbox Release Will Have 4 Discs

Baldur’s Gate 3 initially launched as a digital-only game on PS5 and PC before heading to Xbox Series X/S a few months later. However, developer Larian Studios confirmed that physical versions of the RPG via a Deluxe Edition would be available sometime this year. As it turns out, Baldur’s Gate 3 is a massive game to pack onto Xbox discs – so much so that we now have confirmation the Deluxe Edition will launch with 4 discs.

The award-winning RPG was only previously purchasable on digital storefronts only but the upcoming Deluxe Edition, which will launch on both PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, will give players the physical version to own on discs along with a handful of extra goodies (you can read more about that here). However, the promotional image for the Xbox physical version originally showed that it would ship on 3 discs. Larian Studios has now revealed that it will actually be 4 discs.

As Larian explains, the reason why the Xbox physical version of Baldur’s Gate 3 will ship on 4 discs is due to the game being only 500MB over the limit for 3 discs. Players will simply have to install that additional small data on the fourth disc when installing the game on their Xbox Series consoles. The first wave of the Deluxe Edition is now expected to ship in early April.

In related news, Larian previously confirmed that it’s working on adding cross-platform mod support to the game that will allow console players to access mods similar to Fallout 4 or Skyrim. The studio didn’t provide an ETA for the feature though it’s expected to arrive this year.
