iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro Covers
Of course, the first thing you’ll look for when picking up your iPhone is a fancy new cover. We would be here all day if we had to list every cover available on the market so here’s a selection of a few great ones. We haven’t included Apple’s new Fine Woven range because they have turned out to be pretty horrendous.
The Moov cover range is actually a locally-produced lineup of covers in SA and having owned a few in the past, they are pretty robust and protective. They also come with MagSafe support so you’ll be able to still use all the extra accessories you’ve picked up over the past few years such as the charger and car mounts. You’ll pay anything from R699 – R799 for a Moov case depending on the material and build. Here are a few. Keep in mind they come in all different colours.
- Moov iPhone 15 Pro Softouch Edge Case With MagSafe – R699
- Moov iPhone 15 Pro Max DropSafe Case with MagSafe – R599
- Moov iPhone 15 Pro SoftTouch Case with MagSafe – R799
ORRO has also established itself as a reliable and affordable brand for iPhone cases. The company has listed the new iPhone 15 lineup on Takealot already with a range of different cases to choose from. You can pick up some clear cases with MagSage, a silicone grippy case or a textured case.
- ORRO iPhone 15 Series Clear MagSafe Case – R199
- ORRO iPhone 15 Pastal Liquid Silicone Case – R179
- ORRO iPhone 15 Carbon Fibre Textured Back – R239
iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro Screen Protectors
You’ll definitely want to protect your iPhone 15 screen. Thankfully, any screen protector from the iPhone 14 range will work on the iPhone 15 too. However, there’s an exception to that rule. The iPhone 15 Pro does have thinner bezels this year so be sure to stay away from those screen protectors with black borders.
The borders will cover some of the screen due to the slightly reduced bezel on the Pro range. Be safe and go for a simple glass front with clear edges. If you do go for the black border model, be sure it is an iPhone 15 Pro-specific cut. Otherwise, you’re fine using an iPhone 14 screen protector.
- iPhone 15 Pro Max Clear Glass Screen Protector – R349
- iPhone 15 Pro Clear Glass Screen Protector – R349
- iPhone 15 Plus Ultimate Screen Protector – R599
If you’re someone who wants to protect their camera lenses, you can also grab the attachable lens protector for the iPhone 15 range.
- iPhone 15/15 Plus Camera Lens Protector – R199
- iPhone 15 Pro/15 Pro Max Camera Lens Protector – R199
iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro Charging and Cables
If you’re looking for a new charging method for the iPhone 15, here are some great products available on the market in SA. Of course, you could just stick to the typical USB C cable found in each box but Apple offers different ways to charge up your phone. Remember, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro don’t include a charging brick so you’ll need one if you don’t already.
The first is a MagSafe charger. While it costs a bit more than a standard cable, it does offer wireless charging by magnetically connecting to your iPhone. Keep in mind that you’ll need to have a MagSafe case to charge your phone with this.
Another great charger, which I personally use myself, is the TROO Certified 15W Fast Charge 3-in-1 unit. It includes three charging spots. You can charge your Apple Watch (keep in mind it doesn’t support the new Fats Charge feature), your iPhone and another wireless charging unit. While this device is a bit slower than using a standard brick, it is better for your iPhone battery health in the long run. Also great for night-time charging next to your bed as you can make use of the new StandBy feature in iOS 17 by rotating your iPhone into landscape mode.
- TROO Certified 15W Fast Charge 3-in-1 – R999
You can also pick up the Apple 20W USB-C charger which works perfectly fine with the included cable in the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro box.
There’s also a range of extra charging cables on sale. You can just pick up a standard USB C cable anywhere but if you want the extra Apple USB C braided cable, prepare to pay a penny for it. I personally love the U Green brand and highly recommend their USB C cables.
- Apple USB-C to USB-C Woven 1m Charging Cable – R529
- Moov USB-C to USB-C 2m Braided Cable – R349
- U Green USB-C to USB-C Cable 2m – R499
iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro Other Accessories
If you’re already set up for your iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro but need something a little more “out there”, here’s a list of some accessories I recommend you pick up. Keep in mind these all depend on what iPhone life you live.
The first is the DJI Osmo Mobile 6. Great for filming on your iPhone. It provides great stability features, an analogue stick to move your phone about and great built-in creator features in the app. If you film or capture content on your iPhone, this is the best gadget to get.
- DJI Osmo Mobile 6 – R3499
A great new feature on the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max is the ability to record video directly to an SSD. This is great for all filmmakers who are worried about storage space on their phones. Especially when using RAW files. Here are some SSDs you can pick up that will make for great companions to your filming.
If you’re looking for a new set of AirPods, you can pick those up too but be warned, the new USB C AirPod Pros and standard AirPods aren’t available yet. So make sure you get those when you upgrade.
If you want to use MagSafe on your iPhone to mount the phone in your car (it beats clips and retractable mounts), here are a few great car mounts to pick up. Again, you’ll need a MagSafe case in order to use these car mounts.
