Google has dated its latest I/O event for 14 May where the company plans on unveiling a number of new gadgets and software updates. The event will take place at the Google HQ in Mountain View, California and the rest of the world can tune into the stream online.
While it isn’t clear exactly what Google will announce at the event, we know the company is expected to focus heavily on AI. Google just recently launched its flagship AI model called Gemini and its smaller version called Gemma. Gemini has been hit with some nasty controversy after it created historically inaccurate images showing bias.
Google responded to the incident saying that it was completely unacceptable. So we will likely hear about the AI improvements at the I/O event in May.
The company will likely detail features set to arrive in Android 15 and improvements other to Google services including Gmail, Photos, Drive and more. There will, of course, be a new Pixel showcase with a possible Pixel 8A smartphone. But that doesn’t matter to South Africans seen as we don’t actually get the phones here anyway.
The countdown to #GoogleIO is here! ⏳
