MultiVersus is Teasing an Announcement After 8 Months of Silence

After eight months of going silent, MultiVersus is teasing an upcoming announcement. The game’s official Twitter/X account recently posted a message – the first update since June 2023 – potentially teasing the reveal and launch of the full game.

MultiVersus launched in beta back in 2022 where it gained millions of players for over a year. However, by June 2023, the fighting game was pulled from beta in preparation for its full launch. Eight months had passed without any contact from developer Player First Games. However, a new post on its Twitter/X account, which reads “*taps mic* testing, testing, 1, 2, 3” indicates that the studio is ready to make an announcement or at least provide players with a long-awaited update.

Taking cues from Nintendo’s acclaimed Super Smash Bros. franchise, MultiVersus uses similar gameplay mechanics but unites several IPs under Warner Bros. Discovery in an all-out brawler, including Shaggy from Scooby-Doo, Harley Quinn, the Iron Giant, Steven Universe, Bugs Bunny, Batman and many more. Players suspect that the final version of the game will add several new characters added to the roster, some of which include previously leaked characters like Gandalf.

The official description for MultiVersus reads:

“In MultiVersus, the Multiverse is at your fingertips as you battle it out in intense 2v2 matches. Combine an ever-expanding roster of new and familiar characters to create the ultimate fighting team. Each character features its own customisable perk loadout to change the way you play and synergise with your teammates. Up against Batman & Shaggy? Try using Bugs Bunny & Arya Stark. Play out your fantasy matchups in a fun co-op or head-to-head fight for victory.”

The MultiVersus beta was previously available on most major platforms including PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC and Nintendo Switch, so it’s safe to assume that it will receive its full launch on those platforms as well.
